“Bournes of London Ltd t/a Acorn Projects has won the Association of Interior Specialists prestigious Gold Award in the Interior Fit-Out category for it’s fit-out of high profile commercial office w/c’s for Aon Limited at Devonshire Square London.”

The contract involved the stripping back the existing male and female w/c’s back to core, replacement of all services including air conditioning, hot and cold water supplies and waste pipework.


The works were carried out during out of hours working time as the client was in full occupation of the building.


The completed w/c’s incorporated modern, hard wearing standard finishes and strategically placed colourbell glass panels with contrasting backlighting.


The fit-out was meticulously planned by the Bournes of London t/a Acorn Projects Management team who worked alongside the client’s consultants to create a program that minimised disruption to the building occupants whilst maximising productivity.


Up to 15 different sub-contractor trades were involved in the project, working in a very small area, therefore a high level of co-ordination and supervision was required.


The completed w/c’s were well received by our client, being completed within budget and original timescales. The overall effect has created a luxurious & user friendly, hard wearing, maintenance free space.

Stripping out and then fitting out these toilets in such a short time, out of normal working hours, in such a confined space, obviously required stringent planning and there must have been difficulties – all magnified due to the office staff working their normal hours. The whole installation has been completed to the highest of standards with the most modernistic fittings and lighting. An unusual entry, but most worthy winner.”
